Life’s Top Priority is Prayer (Part-3)
“Men always ought to
pray and not lose heart.”Lk 18:1 NKJV
Today’s Devotion:
If someone threatened your home or community,
wouldn’t you defend them? They are under attack, but the Enemy’s
invisible. And Paul says the lion’s share of responsibility for stopping these
attacks belongs to Christian men. “I want men everywhere to…[pray]” (1Ti 2:8
NIV). Here the word men isn’t the generic term for the human
race or mankind; it’s specific to “males.” Now, we’re not saying only men are
supposed to pray. Every Christian must. Nor are we saying
prayer is the only thing to do. But it’s the first thing to do!
John Bunyan said, “You can do more than pray after you’ve prayed, but you can’t do more
than pray until you’ve prayed.”
James said, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (Jas 5:16
NAS).
There are two kinds of righteousness: Positional and Practical.
Note the word “righteous” here is Positional. So, every believer is
clothed with the righteousness of Christ, which means you’re in right standing
before God.
There’s righteousness you need to
practice daily as you allow the Holy Spirit to cleanse, fill, and use you and
this is Practical. Just like you
don’t want to drink from a dirty cup, God doesn’t want to hear the prayers of a
Christian whose life is fouled up with junk.
Application:
The prayer God
answers:
(1) Is offered by a clean heart;
(2) Has a seriousness and intensity
that shows you’re not just throwing out a few wishes to see which ones God
might pick up on;
(3) Lines up with God’s Word and
purposes;
(4) Comes from an undivided heart,
because “a double-minded man receives nothing from the Lord” (See Jas
1:6-8).
Prayer for Today:
Heavenly
Father thank you for your Word today. Lord thank you for teaching us to start
this year with prayer and I believe Lord that we will end our live this year
with prayer. Lord teaches me to pray consistently and out in my heart Lord the
habit of prayer so that in all my undertakings and plans this year you will go
with me. Lord empowers me to pray for my family, brethren and others for their
salvation so that we will be protected always by your presence. Lord as we walk
and by faith we acknowledge that we can’t move without praying first because we
need you always Lord to watch and guide us so that we will be successful in all
our ways for your glory, In Jesus name! Amen!
Prayer for Salvation
Lord I admit I am a
sinner I repent of all my sins and I receive you into my heart as my personal
Lord and Savior Amen. If you mean that prayer above from the bottom of your
heart you are now saved. It is God’s Word that He promise in John 3:16 that if
you trust His Son Jesus you will not die but you will have Eternal Life.
Welcome to the family of God. In order to grow in your faith with God please do
these consistently starting today; 1. Pray always 2. Read your Bible Daily 3.
Attend Church Services Regularly 4. Attend Prayer Meeting and Bible Study and
serve God first place in your life, in your talent and in your finances 5.
Witness Jesus to others that they may receive salvation too.
