PRAYER as a Way of Life by Sis. Cristy and Bro.
Rolly Custodio
MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME AND DON’T WASTE IT
‘Take care of your own business, and do your
own work…’ 1 Thessalonians 4:11NCV
Today’s Insight
If you’ve seen ‘The Apprentice’ you’ve witnessed a
group of often driven and difficult people telling entrepreneur and business
magnate Donald Trump they’re really hard workers and how much money they’re
going to make. Pretty extreme, but there are people like that out there.
At the other end of the
spectrum is the stereotype of the workshy-sponging off parents people half
asleep on the sofa. Calling in ‘sick’ to classes or not very interested in
finding a job. This might not be your style, but we have to be wary – laziness
is something that will catch you out if you let it (check outProverbs 13:4). Are we condemning you? No, we just want
you to make the most of the time on your hands.
In Acts 18 we read about Paul. Even as he
travelled around, in between preaching and teaching, he made tents to provide
for himself, not always relying on people to provide for him. Tents? It was a
profitable trade at that time. He worked with dedication and persistence in
something that wasn’t the important, central part of his life’s mission, in
order to allow it to go on. So wherever life is taking you, work hard as if you
were doing it for the Lord Himself.
Application? Work out the amount of time you spend on activities
in the week. Is your balance right, or does something need to change?
Parallel verses: 2
Kings 7-9, Matt 20:24-34, Ps
27, Pro 7:10-20
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank you for your Word today.
Lord thank you for this teaching that we should be industrious and hard working
in what we do so that no regret you will say to yourself but you can say to yourself
that you have done the best of what you have and you maximize your time without
wasting it. Lord teaches me to work faithfully for your Kingdom and even we are
working for secular we work for you because this is the way we get our living.
Lord strengthens me that I can sustain both my service to you and my service to
my Company where I get my daily living. Lord remind me that what I do I work
you and not for for your glory In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
